The position of my retinotopic visual areas was obtained from the functional MRI signal evoked by stimuli sweeping my visual field in radial and axial directions.  Only retinotopic areas exhibit a traveling spatially localized  wave of activity.

Area MT above is involved in motion processing.  It lights up when subjects view moving patterns (in this case the stimulus was much like starfield motion).  Some authors believe that there is another retinotopic area intervening between MT and V3A (area V7 - nobody knows what it is doing).
